On Friday the 12th of March , E.LA.M. honored the memory of another greek hero of E.O.K.A. , that of Evagoras Pallikaridis .
Hundreds members of the National People’s Front marched through the streets of Pafos towards the statue of the 19 years old hero.
There , in front of an ecstatic crowd that was gathered , Mr . Steniotis Georgios – who fought by the side of Evagoras - spoke to the participants about the sacrifice of his friend.
In succeeding Mr. Steniotis , a militant of E.LA.M. compared in his speech the days of the struggle for Greek liberation of Cyprus ( 1955-59 ) with now days situation .
The manifestation ended with the National Hymn which was sung by hundreds of Hellenes .
Evagoras Pallikaridis joined the Greek resistance E.O.K.A. , in April 1955. During his rebel action he took part in attacks against British guards , police station and camps and was involved in ambushes and explosions . The British placed him on the wanted list .
He was arrested on 18 December 1956 and was sentenced to death !
He was hanged by the British at the age of 19 !!
